Detection of anti-testicular antibodies among infertile males using indirect immunofluorescent technique

Abstract: Introduction and Aim: The antinuclear antibodies (ANA) are unwanted molecules which bind and destroy certain structures within the nucleus. Immunofluorescence is a powerful technique that utilizes fluorescent-labeled antibodies to detect specific target antigens. The aim of this study was to detect the anti-testicular antibody among infertile males in Baghdad city and determine the most common type of infertility.   Materials and Methods: The study involved 73 male (53 infertile and 20 non-infertile) volunteer… Show more

“…Results for sperm activity in this study is in agreement with earlier studies by Luo et al, (24) and Soltani et al, (25), who report that the essential oils in M. peperita are a vital substrate for the sperm through the oxidation of fatty acids as a source of energy, which contributes to increasing the effectiveness of the sperm and their maturation as well as in maintaining their concentration, composition and activity (24,25). It can be recommended to apply M. peperita in the treatment of anti-testicular antibodies in wide ratio of infertile males (26). Thus, our study shows a positive role for M. peperita oils, in withdrawal of opioid oxycodone addiction.…”

“…A meta-analysis study found that seminal fluid quality (sperm count and concentration) had fallen by 50-60% worldwide in the previous four decades, raising severe concerns about fertility in the near future (1). Anti-testicular antibodies (ATCA) were most prevalent contributing to infertility (2), but malnutrition, sedentary lifestyles, alcohol consumption, smoking, pollution, underlying health conditions, and stress have also been implicated as major causes of male infertility (3). It has been estimated that a healthy male produces over 200 million sperm cells daily within the testis through the spermatogenesis process that involves the continuous production of spermatozoa cells (4).…”

“…The steroid testosterone, produced by the testis is essential in maintaining and regulating normal spermatogenesis (5). Studies have shown that spermatogenesis is greatly influenced by genetic, nutritional and lifestyle factors which play an essential role in male reproductive health and fertility (2). Research conducted in recent years has shown diet, balanced nutrition to have a significant impact on male fertility (6,7,8).…”
