Designing of Straw Chopper Machine for Compost Production

Abstract: Amount of straw wastes in Ciparay, Bandung, West Java Indonesia reaches 10-12 tons.ha -1 but its has not been well managed, after harvested, the remaining unused straw is abandoned on the ground and is eventually burned. In the long run, this straw burning will be very disadvantageous to farmers, especially in terms of the environmental impacts on rice paddy including decreasing soil fertility, killing soil biota, damaging soil physical properties and wasting energy. One of alternatives to utilize rice straw a… Show more

“…It was due to the limited human resources and low production facilities [6]. Several studies regarding cleaning machines such as potato cleaning machines, cassava cleaning machines and taro cleaning machines have been carried out, but there is no specific sweet potato cleaning [7]. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct a research regarding the technology of Cilembu sweet potato cleaning machine technology.…”

“…The tools and machines referred to include shredding machines that process organic waste into compost or biomass briquettes. Shredding is meant to increase the surface area of organic materials, thereby accelerating the decomposition process with the help of decomposing bacteria [5]. Based on research results [6], the significant influence of the effective microorganism four bioactivator was observed in expediting the decomposition process of organic materials into Compost.…”
