Design process for system of systems reconfigurations

Abstract: Systems of systems (SoSs) constitute a particular class of systems, whose constituents are themselves systems in their own right. Such systems present architectures that dynamically change in a way that is not necessarily intended at the time of design. We target a kind of SoS that is subject to evolutionary development and propose a reconfiguration design process that guides the architect in charge of SoS engineering by indicating the tasks that must be accomplished to develop a reconfiguration for evolutiona… Show more

“…Optimizing configurations in terms of capabilities and available resources is needed to cope with environment or mission evolutions. Therefore, the goal of reconfiguration is to identify the best configuration that fulfills the system mission as evolutions occur 7 . In this context, reconfiguration allows for system performance, effectiveness, and affordability improvement to ensure an increased reliability, availability, maintainability, testability, safety, reusability, and reuse of system entities and technologies 1…”
