Design, path planning improvement and test of a portable massage robot on human back

Abstract: A massage robot that helps to improve the quality of human life has attracted more interests of researchers and consumers. A portable back massage robot that is compact and space-saving was designed to be used on human back instead of a traditional large-scale structure robot. To design the massage robot, the models of electric circuit, magnetic circuit and mechanics were analyzed to achieve optimal massage force. Parameters of the massage actuator are determined based on the influence analysis of the coil cur… Show more

“…Chen et al 15 defined the valuation function as an exponential decay method to reduce redundant expansion. Wang et al 16 proposed an efficient full area coverage path planning algorithm based on grid mapping. Zhang et al 17 considered the actual application scenarios of unmanned boats and improved the evaluation function by adding the corner loss term, so that the final path has the smallest corner and reduces the loss on the path.…”

“…Barrientos et al [160] suggested a waveform planner based on the BFS technique that can be applied over the grid-based workspace to generate the coverage path with a minimum number of turns. Wang et al [161] proposed a CPP method to reduce the uncovered area by employing the BFS algorithm. However, this approach causes an uncovered edge, and the robot may fail to operate in the corner.…”

“…Several robotic systems have been developed to perform massage tasks, involving physical interaction between the robotic end-effector and the human body. Research conducted by Wang et al [28] designed a wheeled robot to move on the human body, utilizing an electromagnetic drive mechanism to achieve tapping motion. However, this method lacks motion stability and is susceptible to disturbances from the wheels.…”
