Design of Wideband and High-Gain Slotline Antenna Using Multi-Mode Radiator

Abstract: In this paper, a novel wideband slotline antenna with high gain characteristic is presented by using a multi-mode radiator under the circumstance of the optimized ground plane. The proposed antenna is analyzed from a traditional slot antenna with one full-wavelength radiation mode. Subsequently, two pairs of slot stubs are symmetrically loaded along the arms of the initial antenna near the nulls of the magnetic current of the full-wavelength radiation mode. By suitably choosing the lengths of the loaded stubs,… Show more

“…In the configuration of the 4 × 4 MIMO antenna, moon‐shaped slot radiators are used as main radiators and placed at four corners of a common ground plane with a microstrip feed line on top of the substrate. The attractive features of slot antennas such as simplicity in design, wide impedance bandwidth, good port isolation, and ease of integration with active devices using microstrip line feeding 25 are utilized. The paper is organized as follows.…”

“…To further increase the bandwidth, one of the alterative methods is to merge some radiation modes together, which has been extensively studied in patch antennas [10]- [12]. However, few literatures have suggested this method to increase the bandwidth of the waveguide slot antennas.…”
