Design of Multiband Antennas for Wireless Communication

Abstract: Recent developments in the field of wireless communication industry continue to drive the requirements for small, compatible, and affordable multiband antennas. To overcome the challenges of multi-frequency operation a new scheme of multiband is proposed. In this paper, the design of a microstrip patch antenna for multiband operations is proposed. This antenna shows the three distinct frequency bands, centered at 4.02 GHz, 6.18 GHz and 11.13 GHz. Furthermore, to increase the frequency bands the same antenna st… Show more

“…The switching of the antenna is done electronically by the use of five PIN diodes in the antenna structure. In [13], multiband antennas are proposed for tri band and tetra band of operation for wireless communication systems. An octagonal-shaped rectangular patch antenna with L-slot in radiating element, U-slit near the feed line, and partial ground with rod shaped parasitic element is proposed for triband.…”

“…For dual/wide band requirement, many antennas have been investigated and proposed in literature [1][2][3]. Similarly several patch antennas have been reported in literature for satellite application in Ku-band, such as slot loaded patch with coaxial feed [4][5][6][7], E-shaped patch antenna [8], microstrip feed spidron fractal patch antenna [9], multi layered truncated corner square-ring slot [10], aperture coupled ring slot with cross [11], multi-layer rectangle patch antenna array [12][13][14][15], proximity-coupled multilayer truncated corner antenna [16], proximity coupled feed spidron fractal slot antenna [17], aperture coupled antenna array [18], microstrip feed with patch sharing technique [19], multilayered and parasitic patch antenna [20], hybrid microstrip and waveguide feed antenna array [21], microstrip feed slotted antenna [22][23][24], stacked patch antenna [25,26], orthogonal feed patch antenna [27], aperture coupled stacked patch antenna array [28], slot antenna with DGS [29,30], SIW integrated antenna array [31], coaxial feed circular slot polygonal antenna [32], microstrip feed patch antenna with additional resonator [33], and cross shaped microstrip feed patch antenna [34].…”

“…In [8–10], monopole antenna is proposed to resonate at multiple frequencies. Several other multiband antennas for mobile communications can be found in literatures [1115]. The antennas discussed in literature are linear polarized.…”
