Abstract:Compliant mechanisms with stiffness variation are required in engineering applications. But most studies in the field of compliant mechanisms have only focused on a mechanism with a single stiffness. This paper presents a design method of compliant mechanisms with multi-level stiffness variation using internal self-contact between rigid parts. The contact changes the reconfigurations of compliant mechanisms to vary their stiffness for a specific motion range. We avoid the need for an external control to achiev… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
