Design of a dual-band quadrifilar helical antenna for radio beacon receiver

Abstract: In this paper, the design of a dual band quadrifllar helical antenna (QHA) is proposed for the radio beacon receiver in the application of the ground station of the low earth orbit (LEO) satellite. The new configuration of the QHA is proposed to achieve the dual operating frequencies (150 MHz and 400 MHz), which it is the combination of two bifllar helical antennas (BHA). The proposed antenna possess the hemispherical radiation pattern, dual-band operation, circular polarization and 2.2 dBic absolute gain. The… Show more

“…The critical part of the satellite system is an antenna as a radio wave transmitter and receiver. The proposed satellite antenna for ionospheric research is such as [3] by using a quadrifilar helical antenna and [4] with crossed-dipole, but this antenna has unappropriated size for nanosatellite. Thus, an investigation of the characteristics antenna such as small size, light weight, and polarization is necessary.…”
