Design and performance analysis of broadband rectenna for an efficient RF energy harvesting application

Abstract: This article proposes the design of coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed broadband rectenna for radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting application. The rectenna is designed to operate in the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) frequency band of 5.8 GHz. For designing the proposed rectenna, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) dielectric material was used to design, fabricate the CPW fed slot antenna. It was observed that the proposed antenna exhibits the |S 11 | of −23.43 dB and achieves the peak antenna gain of 8.56 … Show more

“…Recently, different types of rectifying circuit topologies, such as broadband, ultrawideband, multiband, and so on have been reported for obtaining high efficiency. A broad band rectenna with the CPW feeding technique for the rectifying circuit has been earlier proposed in order to enhance the RF to dc conversion efficiency up to 73.4% . A broadband bent triangular omnidirectional antenna with voltage doubler rectifying circuit working from 850 MHz to 1.94 GHz has been presented in Reference , where the authors were able to extract 1.38 V across a load of 4.3 kΩ from the ambient source.…”

“…In order to achieve this goal, the concept of power recycling has been implemented in literature using a branch-line coupler. 8 Recently, different types of rectifying circuit topologies, such as broadband, [9][10][11][12] ultrawideband, 13 multiband, [14][15][16][17][18][19][20] and so on have been reported for obtaining high efficiency.
