Design and Development of a Wideband Fractal Tetrahedron Dielectric Resonator Antenna With Triangular Slots

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, a fractal tetrahedron shaped dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) design for wideband applications is proposed. Two triangular-shaped fractal slots of different sizes are introduced to reduce Q-factor of DRA and in turn to achieve wide bandwidth (BW). Internal coaxial feeding is utilized for good impedance matching and ease of fabrication. The proposed fractal DRA is fabricated and tested. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones. Measured impedance bandwidth of … Show more

“…By introduction of fractal slots, insertion of low permittivity material, and use of triangular loop‐shaped conformal patch, the authors have achieved bandwidth improvement of about 69.3% in comparison to the results of Reference . In References , the authors have discussed fractal triangular prism DRA design and stacked fractal triangular prism DRA design. In this article, various design parameters, parametric analysis, and its fabricated results are discussed.…”

“…Consequently, special DRA shapes and multi-segment DRAs have been reviewed extensively. Rectangular [17], Conical [18], asymmetrical E [19], Stair-Shaped [20], Inverted L-shaped [21], elliptical [22], asymmetrical T-shaped [23], tetrahedral [24] with triangular slot [25], ring-shaped [4] cylindrical [2], [26]- [28], and hybrid hemispherical-conicalshaped [29] configurations have all been suggested for antenna bandwidth enhancement. Gain and bandwidth enhancement configurations were presented in [2] and [30], where two cylindrical dielectric resonators were asymmetrically placed around the center of the rectangular coupling aperture, and fed through this defected ground plane aperture.…”

“…Trivedi and Pujara [7] proposed a wideband fractal tetrahedron dielectric resonator antenna with triangular slots operating in 3.8-8.1 GHz and achieved an impedance bandwidth about 72.3%. Mukti et al [8] proposed a compact fractal wideband planar antenna for L-band applications with a meandered transmission line structure covering 0.94-2.25 GHz with 82.13% bandwidth.…”
