Description of the mitogenome of Gansu mole ( Scapanulus oweni )

Abstract: The Gansu mole Scapanulus oweni belongs to family Talpidae, and is distributed in the Central and Southwest China. In this study, the total mitochondrial genome of S. oweni was firstly determined. The genome is 16,826 bases in length and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and a displacement loop region, with a base composition of A 34.0%, G 13.5%, T 28.7% and C 23.9%. All of the protein-coding genes initiate with the orthodox ATG start codon execpt for Nd2 and Nd3 be… Show more

“…The most abundant start and stop codons were ATG and TAA, respectively, a finding that agrees with previous work on other mammal mitogenomes [ 30 , 31 , 35 , 37 , 65 , 66 ]. Incomplete stop codons (T-- or TA-), like those used in three PCGs ( Nd1 , Cox3 , and Nd4 ), are commonly observed in metazoan mitogenomes.…”

“…The accurate annotated mitochondrial genome sequence was submitted to GenBank with accession number MT017929. The arrangement of the multiple genes is in line with other Lagomorpha species (Wang and Yang 2012;Yu et al 2015;Ding, Chen, Pan, et al 2016;Giannoulis et al 2018;He et al 2018;Yang et al 2019) and most mammals (Mouchaty et al 2000;Nikaido et al 2001;Nikaido et al 2003;Fontanillas et al 2005;Cabria et al 2006;Meganathan et al 2012;Xu et al 2012Xu et al , 2013Kim et al 2013Kim et al , 2017Yoon et al 2013;Hou et al 2016;Huang et al 2014Huang et al , 2016Xu et al 2016;Jin et al 2017;Liu et al 2016;Liu, Tian, Jin, Dong, et al 2017;Liu et al 2018;Liu, Dang, et al 2019;Liu, Qin, et al 2019;Guti errez et al 2018;Jia et al 2018).…”
