Abstract: Barbonymus gonionotus, a fish species in the family Cyprinidae, is known from Western Indonesia. In Java, it was previously known only from the mainland and had never been reported from Madura Island, east of Java This paper provides the first description of B. gonionotus from the Kemuning River in Madura Island. The specimens of B. gonionotus were characterized as follows: dorsal fin rays 12; ventral fin rays 9; pectoral-fin rays 15-16; anal-fin rays 9. Description of specific morphological characters of samp… Show more

“…Penemuan O. Niloticus Penemuan O. Niloticus di Sungai Lenggang, Desa Lenggang, Kecamatan Gantung, Kabupaten Belitung Timur, Pulau Belitung, Indonesia rekor baru yang mewakili jangkauan invasi spesies sekitar 226 km ke arah timur dari Pulau Bangka (Gambar 3).

“…These indexes indicate that in these waters evenness, the number of individuals of each species is high, and no species dominates. However, information regarding habitat use and ecological interactions is urgently needed to accurately determine the distribution and ecology in Javanese waters (Widodo et al 2020;Ihwan et al 2020;Saptadjaja et al 2020, Hasan et al 2021cHasan et al 2021d;Hasan et al 2021f;Valen et al 2022c;Manangkalangi et al 2022;Hasan et al 2023). This can be completed through more expedition results, more collections, complimentary use of eDNA analysis, and research incorporating morphological and molecular data (Hasan et al 2021g;Nurjirana et al 2022;Valen et al 2022b).…”

“…The right body's pectoral fin of one specimen was removed for DNA extraction and the left side was used for morphometric data collection and is frequently visible in photographs. The specimen was preserved in a 90% alcohol solution [24]. The other one specimen was preserved in a 7% formalin solution [25] and deposited at the zoology laboratory, at Bangka Belitung University.…”
