Abstract: Actinomycetes, especially those belonging to the genus Streptomyces, are economically important from a biotechnological standpoint: they produce antibiotics, anticancer compounds and a variety of bioactive substances that are potentially applicable in the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.
