Dependence of the mined ores quality on the geological structure and properties of the hanging wall rocks

Abstract: Paper presents the research results of the relationship revealed between the mined ore dilution factors and the geological structure and properties of the hanging wall rocks. The research methodology is in the analysis of the structure and properties of the hanging wall rocks, the technological parameters of the stopes in contact with the host rocks, the processing of actual surveying data of the rockfall volumes and dilution factors, the construction of a 3D model of the mined floor with the stopes divided ac… Show more

“…In fact, due to the lost access to the main oil and gas fields on the Black Se a shelf and a significant part of the coal deposits in the Eastern Donbass, restructuring of mines and reducing the cost of produced coal is an extremely urgent and strategic task. The mining industry prospective development is impossible without the introduction of innovative technical and technological solutions: modern approach for mining field planning [3][4][5] backfilling of gob area [6][7][8][9], reclamation and recultivation processes [10][11][12], control of mine ventilation [13][14][15], geomechanical stydy of rock mass behaviour based on rock properties stydy [16][17][18][19], ecological and environmental management [20,21].…”

“…Based on statistical data, the average undercutting value in the faces is 0.24 m or 22.8% of the extracting seam thickness, and in some cases in mines it reaches 0.3-0.4 m. High undercutting value (0.32 m) is demonstrated in Figure 2, which shows a section drawing of one of the stope faces in the Blahodatna mine. Undercutting of the host rocks leads to mixing the broken coal with the rock and deterioration of its quality characteristics [38]- [40].…”

“…Geomechanical modeling is a sequential process of determining the mechanical properties of the rock and its response to impacts during the deposit mining process [54]- [56]. In this paper, the authors study the development of three-dimensional geomechanical models for mining the deposits by surface method, which are based on the results of calculating the stability factor of the open-pit walls.…”
