Dependence of Porosity of Amorphous Silicon Dioxide Prepared from Rice Straw on Plant Variety

Abstract: Contents of silica and extractive substances in rice straw depending on rice varieties were investigated. The samples of amorphous silica were prepared, their microelement composition and morphology were investigated, and the values of true and bulk density were estimated. The porous structure of the samples was studied by the Brunauer-EmmettTeller (BET) method and by water vapour sorption; the specific surface values, as well as the pore diameter and volume, were also determined. Sorption properties of the Si… Show more

“…The aromatic ring group is also found in the region of 800 cm −1 and 833 cm −137 . The presence of silica is indicated by the Si-O-Si bending region (458-561 cm −1 ) and the bands from 950-1000 cm −1 of Si-O-Si asymmetric stretching [38][39][40] . Figure 3a,b also illustrates that except for the domination of the absorption bands from 3000-3500 cm −1 , the spectra of the precipitates from pH 10 to 8 are significantly affected by silica bands.…”

“…The similarity of the positions when compared NP-PIMs with M1 reveal that Aliquat 336 stays entrapped in the polymeric matrix without any chemical change (negligible effect) associated to the presence of the diverse NP. The absorption band at 797 cm −1 in Figure 5 c) can be assigned to the stretching and deformation vibrations of Si-O-Si siloxane bonds [38]. Other characteristic bands, for example the Fe-O bond at 580 cm −1 and 634 cm −1 [39,40], and the peak at 690 cm −1 assigned to Ti-O stretching bands [41], could not be observed in the corresponding NP-PIMs.…”

“…17,18 The peak at 479 cm -1 can also be assigned to O-Si-O bending vibrations. 19,20 Peaks located within the wavenumbers of 360-300 cm -1 can be assigned to calcium oxide. 21 In both spectral regions, 3-day exfoliated particles showed the greater spectral intensity of the peaks when particles were exfoliated in glycerol rather than water, indicating that smaller particles were achieved in a shorter time using glycerol.…”
