Dependence of mechanical and tribotechnical properties of multilayered TiN/ZrN coatings on deposition

Abstract: C-PVD method (vacuum arc deposition of a cathodes) was used for deposition of multilayered coatings, based on TiN/ZrN systems, with different thickness of bilayers. Total thickness of the coatings was 11-19 μm, thickness of bilayers varied from 39 to 305 nm for different samples depending on deposition conditions. Microstructure of the coatings, mechanical and tribotechnical properties, and wear resistance were explored. Influence of the bilayer thickness on such properties of the coatings, as hardness, elasti… Show more

“…Structural features, physical-mechanical and tribological properties of multilayer structures can be reviewed in detail on the refractory and transition metals (Ti, Cr, Zr and Mo) based nitride coatings [2,10,29,82,108,118,119]. TiN/ZrN, TiN/MoN and CrN/MoN coatings were deposited on the steel substrates by the vacuum-arc evaporation method [8,99,100,120].…”

“…While RAL-GZ 387/1 defines this range by mentioning that standard size hosiery can be a maximum of 50% of the extensibility transversely at all measuring points. Dongsheng et al 32 proposed that clothing pressure increases linearly by increasing fabric elongation when it is within the 60% range. A person while wearing a tight garment, transversal extension is not more than 60% of the initial length.…”

“…Anti-erosion coatings are good candidates to protect the compressor blades [5,6]. TiN/ZrN multilayer coatings have good mechanical properties [7]. They can improve the erosion resistance of metals [8].…”
