Dependence of AC Losses in HTS Coated Conductors With Magnetic Substrates on Tensile Stresses

Abstract: We investigated uni-axial tensile stress dependence of AC losses (transport current, magnetization and total losses) in HTS coated conductor with magnetic Ni-alloy substrate. The AC loss characteristics are studied by relating to tensile stress dependence of critical currents of the conductor. Experimental results showed that the loss characteristics were different whether the critical current recovered the original value after the release of the stress or not. Dependence of AC loss characteristics on magnetic… Show more

“…In order to study the AC transport current losses in the superconducting (SC) layer and magnetic substrate, respectively, AC transport current losses are analyzed using FEM taking account of both the nonlinear E-J characteristics and the nonlinear magnetic property of the substrate in LN 2 [3], and the numerical results of AC transport current loss are compared with measurement results [1]. Table 1 shows dimensions and electric parameters of the coated conductor [1] for numerical analysis.…”
