Abstract-In recent years, with the rapid advancement of cloud technology, data centers have always been considered one of cloud services most important aspect to evaluate, and its reliability and availability have been the focus of every IT engineer's attention. However, service interruption is the most important factor to consider for every data center, affecting the user experience, or causing loss in a business. Therefore, automated fault prevention and monitoring of data center will effectively improve the reliability of cloud services. Predictive maintenance differs from traditional maintenance process (i.e. routine maintenance and corrective maintenance), it evaluates the state by performing device condition monitoring, and according to the state, it predicts when maintenance should be performed.This research focuses on hard drive failure prediction, with big data analysis and machine learning technology, we have developed a Preventive Monitoring System (PMS). Utilizing Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) to identify the failure mechanism, and combining Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART) to identify early signs of abnormalities before the device fail. Finally, we use random forest algorithm to construct the predictive model. This research aims to develop a predictive monitoring system to provide device condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, thereby identifying the device malfunction and resolving it as soon as possible, keeping the system maintained at optimal condition.Index Terms-Big data, preventive maintenance, failure prediction, hard drive, random forest.

Abstract-Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) appear to be of paramount importance due to their increasing use on critical infrastructure. New challenges have occurred because of the nature and the complexity of such systems in supporting heterogeneous physical and cyber components simultaneously. Failures or attacks on system components decrease system reliability creating severe consequences to CPS and the attached applications. The construction of complex CPS with respect to security and dependability (S&D) properties is necessary to avoid system vulnerabilities at design level. Design patterns are solutions for reusable designs and interactions of objects. In this work we present a pattern-based language for designing CPS able to guarantee S&D properties. The first set of S&D patterns includes the Reliability Component Composition (RCC) Patterns for designing reliable CPS. RCC patterns are encoded in Drools, which is a rule-based reasoning system. To evaluate our approach, we use RCC patterns as a methodology for designing a reliable wireless sensor network attached to a physical architecture to send monitored data to a central controller through relay nodes and paths.

Abstract-Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) consist of as well as interact with cyber and physical elements. This creates multiple vectors for CPS-internal (i.e., within CPS) as well as for CPSexternal (i.e., between CPS itself and its environment) CyberPhysical Attacks. We argue that an effective Cyber-Physical Defense can only be elaborated if possible attacks on CPS can be identified and assessed in a systematic manner. In this paper, we focus on cyber-attacks only. Our contribution in this paper is the following. We assess the applicability of Data Flow Diagrams (DFD) for the systematic analysis of cyber-attacks against CPS. In this context, we introduce several extensions to DFD. We evaluate the analysis procedure by applying it on a comparatively simple example of a quad-rotor UAV. The selected UAV is fully functioning and contains multiple structural elements representative for more complex systems. At the same time, its simplicity enables an in-depth manual analysis. Our analysis shows that cyber-attacks executed against CPS can lead to various cyber-physical interactions. This, in turn, creates novel challenges for CPS defense. Finally, we outline the preliminary results of our work towards a Taxonomy of Cyber-Physical Attacks.
