O artigo apresenta a Terapia Sistêmica da Família, a construção da parentalidade, o conceito de fronteiras e sua importância para a funcionalidade dos sistemas. Tem como objetivo, compreender como a falta de delimitação dos papéis parentais impactam as relações familiares, a partir da análise das fronteiras difusas. Através da abordagem sistêmica na psicologia, a família é vista como um sistema em constante evolução, influenciada por fatores sociais, culturais e históricos. A parentalidade diz respeito ao exercício dos cuidados parentais e a forma como pais e filhos constroem as relações, sendo um processo dinâmico que envolve cuidados e diferenciação dos papéis. As fronteiras que regulam a participação e interação dos subsistemas, desempenham um papel fundamental na funcionalidade familiar, a fim de manter o equilíbrio entre a abertura e fechamento do sistema, movimento essencial para autonomia e independência de cada um. A metodologia utilizada foi a revisão narrativa, com intuito de abarcar o tema de forma ampla e reunir a literatura existente sobre o tema proposto. Constatou-se que a ausência de limites claros, no qual os papéis nos subsistemas não são delimitados e definidos, afetam as interações entre os membros da família, dificultando a expressão de sentimentos e a diferenciação pessoal, adoecendo as relações em todos os âmbitos da vida. Para além, impacta a saúde mental de todos, por ser um ambiente emocionalmente instável.
