“…1A): (1) Oviduct at the small follicle stage (the diameter of all follicles in the ovary was less than 3 mm, OT1); (2) oviduct at the middle follicle stage (a few of 3-6 mm follicles existed in the ovary, OT2); (3) oviduct at the large follicle stage (a few of more than 6 mm follicles existed in the ovary, OT3); (4) oviduct at the corpus rubrum stage (OT4); (5) oviduct at the corpus luteum stage (OT5). Semi-quantitative RT-PCR was performed as described by Piao et al (2004). Briefly, 1 µg total RNA was reverse transcribed at 42 C for 50 min, denatured at 95 C for 2 min, and amplified for 32 (beta-actin) or 35 (ANP, NPRA and NPRC) cycles of denaturation at 94 C of 30 s, primer annealing at 54 C for 30 s, and extension at 72 C for 30 s, with a final extension step of 5 min at 72 C. The amplified products were analyzed by electrophoresis on 1% agarose gels.…”

“…DNP is a recently isolated peptide that contains 38 amino residues and shares structural and functional properties with the other members of the natriuretic peptide family [2] . Studies about its physiologic functions mainly focus on cardiovascular [3][4][5] , genital [6] , and urinary systems [7] . Evolutionary studies [8] have suggested the presence of DNP-like immunoreactivity in rat colon, and the DNP-like molecule may control colonic motility as a local regulator.…”

“…Dendroaspis natriuretic peptide (DNP), a 38-amino residue peptide that contains a disulfide ring structure and was originally isolated from the venom of Green Mamba [6], is a new member of the natriuretic peptide family with a structure and function similar to other members. Studies about its physiological functions are limited and mainly focus on the cardiovascular [7], urinary [8], and genital systems [9]. Moreover, little is known about the functional role of DNP in gastrointestinal cells.…”
