Demand side management of household appliances in stand-alone hybrid photovoltaic system

Abstract: a b s t r a c tIn this paper, a demand side management control (DSM) acting on the load profile for an isolated hybrid photovoltaic/diesel/battery system for residential application was investigated. This control is a new strategy that compensates the global power flow of a distributed generation system. In fact, using the DSM strategy, the renewable energy can be used effectively to satisfy the demand and reduce the size of the system components. It leads to satisfy customers' continuous requirements to minim… Show more

“…Energy output in a certain day, which is shown in Fig. 3, is assumed based on the predicted data in [38]. Additionally, user's battery capacity is assumed in the range of [1.0, 5.0] kWh and the battery can be charged during PV working time from 6:00 to 17:00.…”

“…To bring out the physical phenomena that govern the functioning of the storage, the temperature should be taken into account. Consequently, the proposed model of the capacity gives the amount of energy that can be restored as a function of the mean discharge current: CitalicbatC10=1.671+0.67IitalicbatI100.90.15em()1+0.005normalΔT where ∆ T = T − 25 is the temperature variation.…”

“…The characterization of the MC considers that the number of active (in-home and not sleeping) occupants in the dwelling and their activities was registered. The authors [23][24][25][26] studied the response using technologies that apply direct load control, resulting in an effective approach to change the consumption profiles. By associating related devices to these activities, a load profile was obtained [20,21].…”

“…On the other hand, to simulate and model users' responses to a DSM strategy, most efforts focus on economic incentives and the associated technologies. The authors [23][24][25][26] studied the response using technologies that apply direct load control, resulting in an effective approach to change the consumption profiles. In Refs.…”
