Delayed Crosslinking Amphiphilic Polymer Gel System with Adjustable Gelation Time Based on Competitive Inclusion Method

Abstract: Delayed crosslinking polymer gel systems are widely utilized in deep profile control processes for water production control in oilfields. In this paper, a kind of delayed crosslinking amphiphilic polymer gel system with adjustable gelation time based on competitive inclusion was prepared and its delayed crosslinking gelling properties were studied. The amphiphilic polymer of P(acrylamide (AM)–sodium acrylate (NaA)–N-dodecylacrylamide (DDAM)) was synthesized and it showed much better salt resistance, temperatur… Show more

“…In this paper, the synthesis of guest amphiphilic polymer (GAP) mainly uses KPS-SHS system (the molar ratio was 1:1) as the initiator of the reaction, and sodium dodecyl sulfate as the surfactant of solubilizing hydrophobic monomer by free radical micelle polymerization as described in literature [16] . The reaction equation is shown in Fig.…”

“…As to the treatment processes for the chemical flooding wastewater, several methods were employed include coagulation/flocculation, oxidation, biodegradation, membrane filtration or combined method [11][12][13][14][15] . Amphiphilic polymers (AP) have good viscosity and solubilization properties, which can greatly improve oil recovery [16] . However, the wastewater produced by AP flooding is seriously emulsified and difficult to treat.…”

“…Similarly, amphigels produced by the introduction of hydrophobicity in the poly(acrylate) chain had also shown differential swelling or deswelling capacity due to changes in pH of the external medium. 1,6 Evidently, several methods and a variety of monomers are reported to produce amphigels, 7,8 however, till now there are few reports on one pot synthesis of amphigels involving the use of nontoxic monomers. 9 The present study reports the use of nontoxic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and citric acid (CA) to synthesize amphigels with macroporous foam structure.…”

“…As such CDs can be utilized for the gelation but they can be utilized for various other purposes in hydrogels as well, e.g., stimulus response or cargo loading. [23] Bian and coworkers utilized the kinetics of β-CD inclusion complex formation to obtain delayed crosslinking hydrogels [24]. Therefore, an amphiphilic polymer was synthesized from hydrophilic acrylamide, sodium acrylate and hydrophobic N -dodecylacrylamide.…”
