Degradation of Organic Dyes over Polymeric Photocatalyst C3N3S3

Abstract: Abstract-Objective: Due to the good visible-light response and strong electron transfer ability, the polymeric semiconductor C 3 N 3 S 3 was developed as an inspired photocatalyst for the degradation of organic dyes. Methods: Trithiocyanuric acid was used as the raw material for the synthesis of C 3 N 3 S 3 by hydrolytic method in NaOH-KI mixed solution. X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and ultravioletvisible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy were employed… Show more

“…The peaks at 1514, 1346, 1105, and 721 cm − 1 in the monomer spectrum are ascribed to the stretching vibrations of non-aromatic heterocycle thione (tautomeric structure II in Figure 1 c). Specifically, the bands at 1514 and 1346 cm − 1 may be ascribed to C=N and C-N stretching vibrations [ 12 ] in the triazine ring, while that at 1105 cm − 1 is assigned to C=S stretching vibrations [ 13 ]. In the polymer, the peaks at 1514, 1346, and 720 cm − 1 are shifted to 1460, 1220, and 821 cm − 1 , respectively, while the trace of the C=S peak is observed in the band shoulder at about 1140 cm − 1 .…”

“…After coordinative reaction of ttc, both of peaks at 2 908 ∼ 3 146 (m) and 1 120 (m) cm −1 disappear in the FTIR spectrum; in contrast, characteristics peaks of the trithiocyanurate [27][28][29], appear in the FTIR spectrum (Table 5).…”
