Deformed vortices in(4+1)-dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills theory

Abstract: We study vortex-type solutions in a (4+1)-dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills-SU(2) model. Assuming all fields to be independent on the extra coordinate, these solutions correspond in a four dimensional picture to axially symmetric multimonopoles, respectively monopole-antimonopole solutions. By boosting the five dimensional purely magnetic solutions we find new configurations which in four dimensions represent rotating regular nonabelian solutions with an additional electric charge.

“…Typically, several distinct curves ("branches") appear in an energy-α-plot, such that for a fixed value of α different solutions (with different energies) exist. In [26] The regular n = 2 case was studied in [22] and only one branch of solutions in α has been constructed. Corresponding to the n = 1 case we believe, though, that further branches also exist for n = 2, the numerical construction of which however seems very involved.…”

“…Due to the fact that we will choose the components of A y and A ϕ to point in the same direction of the internal space, off-diagonal components of the energy-momentum tensor appear. We thus choose the following ansatz for the metric tensor [22]:…”

“…Solutions with m = 1 describe monopole-antimonopole pairs. Both regular solutions 35 and black strings 36 have been considered within this approach. In all cases the existence of several solutions for a given value of κ has been detected.…”
