Decision Support System for Urbanization of the Northern Part of the Volga-Akhtuba Floodplain (Russia) on the Basis of Interdisciplinary Computer Modeling

Abstract: There is a computer decision support system (CDSS) for urbanization of the northern part of the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain. This system includes subsystems of cognitive and game-theoretic analysis, geoinformation and hydrodynamic simulations. The paper presents the cognitive graph, two-level and three-level models of hierarchical games for the cases of uncontrolled and controlled development of the problem situation. We described the quantitative analysis of the effects of different strategies for the spatial di… Show more

“…The subsequent natural or natural-technogenic change in the H-structure causes a decrease in the efficiency of the F -structure of the floodplain area. The presence of a forecast of long-term changes in the H-structure makes it possible to design strategies for the socioeconomic development of the floodplain ESES, whose purpose is to restore and maintain a balance between the H-structure and F -structure of the territory through the coordination of hydrotechnical projects and socio-economic development projects [7,9,74,75].…”

“…They are degraded due to violations of land-use regulations and changes in the characteristics of natural flood events that ensure the existence of such unique areas [1][2][3][4][5]. The state of river floodplains depends mainly on the nature of their flooding, whose hydrological regime is determined by the spring flood volume, a channel structure and a relief of the territory [1,[6][7][8][9][10][11][12].…”

“…One important research area is the creation of decision support systems (DSS) for solving various hydrological problems, and the effectiveness of these DSS is determined by the quality of the applied digital elevation models (DEM) [7,8,9]. Such DSS belong to the class of Spatial Decision-Support System, which combine standard decision-making tools with geographic information systems, providing new opportunities for water resources management [4,10], city and regional planning, real-time decision-making for land management [11], transportation engineering [12], protecting the natural resources in conditions of increasing human pressures on the ecosystem.…”
