In airline operations management, one can state that because of meteorological conditions, flights may have to land at an appropriate alternate airport instead of the destination. One of these meteorological conditions can be reported as insufficient visibility. In this study, I aimed to develop a model for making the most optimal flight decision by following the decision-making process with respect to risk assessment using historical meteorological data when visibility poses a risk of diverting in forecasts. I formed a standard decision-making process flowchart model for a certain period based on costs by making implementing a flight schedule relating to divert risk caused by low visibility. For this research, the risk assessment was made by analyzing the past meteorological data of the destination airport. Then the decision-making process in airline operation management was implemented in line with the data obtained. Based on the study’s results, a model for airlines’ risk analysis in managing operations with divert risk caused by low visibility has been reported to make more optimum decisions in operation.

Recovery of irregular flights caused by various reasons such as aircraft failures and airport closures is studied in this research and a multimodal time-band network model for solving the issue is proposed. It transforms the flight routing problem into a time-based network, which is used to obtain the delay and cancellation costs of each flight. With delay and cancellation costs as variables, the proposed model aims to minimize recovery costs under constraints. This research also suggests a developed binary tree algorithm, which improves the efficiency of model solving. The results show that the rescheduled flights and re-selected flight routes are at the lowest cost and helpful to achieve a balance of flight flow without affecting flight safety. This method used in this work shows its certain value in helping airlines restore flight operations in the shortest possible time and at the lowest cost, improving operational efficiency and service quality.

This paper examines the role of flight dispatchers in analyzing the workload balancing of scheduled domestic flights at the airport in Pasay City. Various factors were analyzed to understand if there was a significant effect on how flight dispatchers balance their workload. Using the qualitative and quantitative research design, results were able to be identified. Out of 24 respondents, one factor shows a significant difference in Professional Adaptation in terms of the sex of the flight dispatchers. Using thematic analysis and phenomenology, Experience, and Maternity were the focal points of the informants when gender-related issues impacted the performance of flight dispatchers. The implications of this study are to identify and address issues on how these factors can affect the job performance and workload balance of a Flight Dispatcher.
