Abstract:Critical land has become a problem in the world. Critical land is very detrimental to the health of the land. Several factors cause the land to become critical. One of them is the use of land that is not by the capabilities of the land. If no repairs made, the land will be physically, chemically, and biologically damaged. Klaten Regency is one of the regencies in Central Java Province, which has quite extensive critical land. It is necessary to monitor and improve land quality regularly to avoid critical land … Show more
“…Critical land has become a problem in the world which is very detrimental to soil health and is caused by several factors. One of them is the use of land that is not in accordance with the capabilities of the land [14]. The results showed the upstream Kuranji watershed area, it is dominated by the potentially critical land (76%).…”

“…Biologically conservation will be carried out in the Kuranji watershed [14], namely forest rehabilitation by planting forest plants that have economic value. This scenario was carried out to see the differences in the results of water, runoff, and groundwater results from the SWAT model simulation.…”

Land-use change is the main cause of high runoff in the Kuranji watershed and has social and economic impacts on the public. This study aims to determine the dynamics of watershed water yields and to formulate directions and recommendations for the management of the Kuranji watershed. The dynamics of the water yield in Kuranji watershed were analysed based on the SWAT hydrological model from the conservation area scenarios. The results showed the value of the dynamics water yield in Kuranji watershed is: reliability 0,79 with a duration of 290 days a year, resilience value 0,67 or 67% certainty of success of the watershed to return to normal conditions with a recovery period of 75 days a year and the average vulnerability is 389.466 m3/day. So that the form of a decision to be made with these conditions is that this area can be developed but the types of plants grown must be sensitive to water shortages. The direction and recommendations of the Kuranji watershed management on the future are to grow public awareness through the formation of public perceptions, conservation on target, continuous watershed conservation, public empowerment, and incentive policies governing payment for environmental services.

Critical land has caused concern among many stakeholders because it can have serious impacts. This has become the main agenda in sustainable development carried out by development actors. One form of revitalization is carried out by improving soil structure by planting coffee which is initiated through collaboration between institutions and involving the local community.
The study in this article uses a narrative review. The approach used is done by reviewing each article that develops from time to time and is considered possible and relevant as the basis for analysis. The data analysis used is a simplified approach. The steps taken in the simplified approach analysis are summarizing each piece of literature. Critical appraisal is carried out simultaneously to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the literature and to see the relationship between one literature and another.
This study found that development actors consisting of facilitators, mediators, other change agents, and beneficiaries, both between the government and the community or the private sector and the community, have challenges as well as decisive roles in building the face of development from various interest perspectives. Capacity building either through education, training, or improving the communication channels used determines the effectiveness of cooperation in the perspective of development communication that affects the success of development programs.
“…It's causing the lack of water supply for agricultural land so that the rice plants that have been planted are threatened with crop failure. In comparison, Klaten Regency is the largest supplier of rice producers in Central Java province [21]. Based on this phenomenon, it is necessary to intervene in overcoming floods and droughts in Klaten Regency through the WSUD concept.…”
The rural area is one area with a vital function as a food producer towards food security which urgently needs sustainable stormwater management. However, the challenge of sustainable stormwater management is climate change. WSUD is one of the most influential sustainable stormwater because WSUD can control the hydrological cycle and water quality through local facilities. Vegetated WSUD is a practical application of WSUD in regulating stormwater management because it is easy to apply. Vegetated-WSUD consists of a bioretention basin, rain garden, and swales track. Klaten Regency is an area in the province of Central Java that is ranked 9th in the highest drought level in Indonesia, and eleven sub-districts are prone to flooding. On the other hand, Klaten Regency is the largest producer of rice suppliers in Central Java which requires sustainable stormwater management. The research aims to formulate a design simulation model through bioretention, rain garden, and swales track through WSUD to achieve sustainable rural stormwater management. The research method used is quantitative with map overlay and design mapping. The research outputs determine the location feasibility and design model application of vegetated-WSUD in the Klaten Regency. The two-dimensional and three-dimensional design model consists of space requirements, placement, and vegetation types from each bioretention basin, rain garden, and swales track.
