Day-Ahead Scheduling for Economic Dispatch of Combined Heat and Power With Uncertain Demand Response

Abstract: This paper presents an energy management method for the interconnected operation of power, heat, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) units to settle the Day-Ahead market in the presence of a demand response program (DRP). A major challenge in this regard is the price uncertainty for DRP participants. First, the definitive model of the problem is introduced from the perspective of the Regional Market Manager (RMM) in order to minimize the total supply cost in the presence of TOU program, which is a type of DRP. “…In other words, selecting a conservative response load model has great realistic insight into load estimation in MEMS. Several examples of nonlinear response load models that only tackling the electricity DR were given in [16], [17], [18], but neglected the impact of these models for the multi-energy IDR. In this paper, nonlinear response load models, i.e., power, exponential, and logarithmic models have been comprehensive studied for the price based IDR in MEMS.…”

“…For the purpose of calculating the system-wide additional costs associated with optimum dispatch using the search optimization approach, an explicit formula was created [32]. For the operation of CHP, a demand response algorithm was used [33]. The heat transfer search technique, which follows the laws of thermodynamics and heat transfer, was used to find the solution to complicated CHP economic dispatch problems [34].…”

“…Reference [28] proposes a novel optimization framework based on IGDT for the strategic participation of multi-carrier systems in the electricity market under price uncertainty. Reference [29] presents a robust model for minimizing the cost of executing tasks by considering the uncertainty of the price of SVMs based on the IGDT; Reference [30] presents an energy management method for the interconnected operation of power, heat, and combined heat and power units to settle the day-ahead market in the presence of a demand response program. In summary, IGDT is an effective method for dealing with price uncertainty issues and can also be applied to ECPPs' participation in power grid supplydemand regulation.…”
