Data for the cytotoxicity, self-assembling properties and synthesis of 4-pyridinium-1,4-dihydropyridines

Abstract: In this data file the synthetic procedures for preparation of the original 4-pyridinium-1,4-dihydropyridines (4-Py-1,4-DHP) and their parent compounds – dialkyl 2,6-dimethyl-4-(3-pyridyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylates were described. In total, 5 unpublished compounds were obtained and characterised. All the structures of original compounds were confirmed by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR, including 1 H NMR and 13 C NMR) and low resolution mass spectra (MS… Show more

“…DHPs' analogy with 1,4-dihydronicotinamide has theorized its possible use in studying the molecular mechanisms as model compounds. They are postulated for providing the base for newer cardiovascular drugs development [8,9]. A number of drugs commonly used in present times bear the 1,4-DHP ring-like calcium channel blockers [10][11][12].…”

“…ILs are highly preferred to other chemical demulsifiers because of their unique characteristics, such as moderate ionic conductivity, lower vapor pressure, high chemical stability, and lower flammability . Numerous studies elucidating the effectiveness of ILs for demulsification activity of water/oil separation have been reported in the literature. Pyridinium is a new class of ILs with unique features and has been tested for many scientific applications. Specifically, pyridinium ILs are attracting considerable attention as demulsifying chemicals for stable emulsions. Recently, Atta et al synthesized novel geminal dicationic ILs composed of pyridinium and imidazolium cations for the purpose of demulsifying heavy emulsions produced from seawater and crude oil.…”
