Das revidierte Kölner Apraxie-Screening (KAS-R) als diagnostisches Verfahren für Patienten mit rechtshemisphärischem Schlaganfall

Abstract: The Cologne Apraxia Screening (KAS) was developed to diagnose apraxia following left-hemisphere (LH) stroke. The present study aims at developing a diagnostic tool for patients with right-hemisphere (RH) stroke (KAS-R) by modifying the test material of the KAS and reducing the test items based on psychometric analyses.A total of 100 patients with RH stroke and 77 healthy control participants were tested. Psychometric analyses led to the exclusion of 8 KAS items. The final KAS-R, consisting of 12 items, shows g… Show more

“…Several validated screening as well as diagnostic tests are now available to identify limb apraxia in stroke patients. Apraxia screening tests include the Cologne Apraxia Task, 74 the Florida Apraxia Test, 75 the Dementia Apraxia Test, 76 and the apraxia screening from the Boston Diagnostic Aphasia Examination. 77 There are shorter and more detailed and validated apraxia diagnostic tasks in the Test of Upper Limb Apraxia, 78 and apraxia testing within the Birmingham Cognitive Screening.…”

“…The Cologne Apraxia Screening (KAS) was performed to characterize apraxia deficits in several categories including imitation of gestures, pantomime of tool use, and gesture recognition (Latarnik et al, 2022; Wirth et al, 2016). The Dementia Apraxia Screen Test (DATE) is a screening tool specifically designed to assess apraxia in individuals with dementia (Johnen et al, 2018).…”

“…To test these hypotheses, we aimed to systematically assess apraxia in a well-defined group of patients with AD and correlate the results with data derived from tau-PET imaging in these individuals. To this end, we recruited a group of biomarker-confirmed patients with AD, who had been thoroughly characterized by neuropsychological assessment including systematic apraxia profiling using the Dementia Apraxia Test (DATE; (Johnen et al, 2018)) and the Cologne Apraxia Screening (KAS; (Latarnik et al, 2022; Wirth et al, 2016)). To reduce heterogeneity in the data, we planned to focus on patients with classical limb apraxia (deficits in gesture, imitation, pantomime, and actual object use), excluding other forms such as speech or gait apraxia.…”

“…Instruktionen mit Bildern reduzieren den Einfluss der Aphasie [43]. Die Imitation bedeutungsloser Bewegungen ist eine weitgehend sprachunabhängige und deswegen besonders sensitive Untersuchungsmethode bei Patienten mit linkshemisphärischen Läsionen [1], wobei apraktische Störungen auch nach rechtshemisphärischen Läsionen auftreten können [45].…”
