Abstract: Zusammenfassung: Fusionen führten während der 1980er und 1990er Jahre zu einer hohen Konzentration auf dem deutschen Prüfungsmarkt. Auch das darauffolgende Jahrzehnt war aufgrund zahlreicher Bilanzskandale und den nachfolgenden gesetzlichen Neuregelungen zur Unabhängigkeit eine für den Berufsstand der Wirtschaftsprüfer ereignisreiche Dekade.
