PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII Cinta Manis is a large-scale sugarcane plantation and has many workers, including women. Women laborers who work at PTPN VII Cinta Manis are included in vulnerable communities because they cannot get out of the poverty cycle they experience. This is reinforced by the covid-19 pandemic which has worsened the socio-economic situation of women workers. The purpose of this study is to explain the socio-economic changes of female laborers during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is qualitative with a case study research strategy. The results of this study are that women laborers experienced significant changes during the Covid-19 pandemic from changes in thinking, changes in attitudes and changes in terms of interactions and activities. The strategies carried out also vary from utilizing skills, selling at home and social media to catfish farming to survive during the pandemic.

Background: Covid-19 has infected more than million of people globally. The Covid-19 pandemic has an impact in various aspects including gender. Pandemic Covid-19 are increasing the gender gap in terms of employment, income, and household responsibility. This provide that Covid-19 pandemic is not gender-neutral. Objectives: This study aims to identify the issues in promoting gender-responsive policy during the COVID-19 pandemic between women and men.Methods: This is a literature review of original articles discussing the need for gender-responsive policy during the COVID-19 pandemic. At least ten original articles obtained from Scholar Google were synthesized in this literature review.Discussion: Restrictions on mobility and activity during the pandemic have an impact on woman in social and economy term such as declining income, job loss, and increased burden of dual roles. The integration of gender mainstreaming can be a responsive way to overcome this problem. In this cases, several possible policies that will be evaluated predominantly are social protection for the community who identified as COVID-19 impacted and employee adjustment and well-being in the era of COVID-19 and post COVID-19.Conclusions: This detailed analysis of the intersection of these economic losses and gender-responsive policy are needed to correct the inequalities of economic productivity experienced by different sexes. The results of the analysis will help policymakers to be able to formulate what programs are gender-responsive in overcoming gender inequality during the pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has erased the stereotype of the domestication of women with the status of women as housewives and career women, which has an impact on women’s double burden, namely doing domestic work and public work. This article aims to prove that the domestic sector has strengthened the existence of women. This research is descriptive qualitative by interviewing three career women in Yogyakarta. They were selected by direct pointing because these women can provide relevant information in this study. Indirect observations were carried out to explore information that was not conveyed at the time of the interview. Information from journals, websites, and newspapers was used to strengthen the data. The results showed that women’s ability to manage the household had an effect during the COVID-19 pandemic, namely the Work From Home (WFH) policy. Women’s domestic roles include women’s managerial abilities in utilizing home facilities such as the living room, family room, workspace, and even the kitchen room and mastery of home facilities such as Wi-Fi, laptops, and cellphones used by other family members. It also provides ample opportunity for women to demonstrate their ability to carry out domestic sector jobs such as cooking, protecting family members, and doing public work such as seminars, teaching, selling services, business, and forming social groups to help disaster victims. In line with that, the role of women in the domestic sector and public sector is balanced, thereby strengthening women’s existence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
