Daidzin inhibits growth and induces apoptosis through the JAK2/STAT3 in human cervical cancer HeLa cells

Abstract: Daidzin, 4′, 7-dihydroxyisoflavone is an isoflavonic phytoestrogen present in leguminous plants. Traditional Chinese medicine utilizes daidzin to treat various diseases such diarrhea, fever, hepatitis, cardiac problems etc. In current study we examined the anticancer activity of daidzin against human cervical cancer in vitro. HeLa, human cervical cancer cell line was purchased from ATCC and the cells were cultured with DMEM medium. The cytotoxic effect of daidzin against HeLa cell line was analyzed with MTT as… Show more

“…Rosmarinic acid (RA) is a classical type of polyphenol that exhibits great potentially beneficial pharmacological functions such as anticarcinogenic, antiallergic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial [ 22 ]. Daidzin is one of the major isoflavone glycosides and is an antioxidant isoflavonoid, which shows decreased blood alcohol levels, liver protection, and decreased inflammation activity [ 23 , 24 , 25 ]. Quercetin-3-O-sophoroside is an important glucose-bound derivative of quercetin with a dopaminergic neuroprotection effect and strong antioxidant capacity [ 26 , 27 ].…”

“…Daidzin and Troxerutin were predicted as similar analogs for Chrysin-7-O-glucuronide. Daidzin has been reported to show suppressive effects on rat prostate carcinogenesis as well as to inhibit growth and induce apoptosis in HeLa cell lines [78] , [79] . Several in vitro investigations using various cancer cell lines demonstrated anticancer and cytotoxic properties of Troxerutin [80] , [81] , [82] .…”

“…Oxidative stress in cancer cells is brought about by an increase in ROS, which limits the synthesis of antioxidants (Yao et al, 2021). SOD enables the catalysis of superoxide anions to oxygen and hydrogen peroxide conversion while providing protection against lipid peroxidation.…”
