“…13 It is reported that non-linear optical properties of the benzil crystal are improved by metallic ion (Nd 3+ , Cd 2+ ) dopants. 14 The critical behavior of the annealed and unannealed crystal of benzil is reported in the literature by Brillouin scattering techniques. 15 Subhas Ch.…”

“…The values of nonlinear absorption coefficient () and nonlinear refractive index (n 2 ) of Benzil are -78 × 10 -3 cm/W and -22 × 10 -3 cm/W, while the corresponding values for O-nitroaniline doped Benzil are -9.4 × 10 -9 and -6 × 10 -7 cm 2 /W, respectively [9]. Pure Cd 2+ and Nd 3+ A c c e p t e d M a n u s c r i p t also been found that the radiation threshold is higher for pure benzil single crystals [10]. The crystals of benzil with space group P3 1 2 and melting point 369K were grown from undercooled melts and examined by X-ray topography by Scheffen-Lauenroth et al It was observed that the glide dislocations occur only in melt grown crystals because benzil is plastic at temperatures near the melting point and brittle at the temperatures at which solution growth is performed [11].…”

“…Correlating the thermal regime, moving speed of the ampoule, low thermal conductivity of organic materials (7:38 Â 10 À4 W cm À1 C À1 for molten benzil [13]) and the anisotropic growth speed we try to annihilate the supercooling effect, control the freezing mechanism of the molten mixture and the shape of the crystal-melt interface with the aim to avoid the growth of nonhomogeneous organic crystals favoured by the Bridgman-Stockbarger method [14].…”
