“…The fungus causing Light Leaf Spot was originally described by Greville (1823), who estabhshed it as the type species of a new genus Cylindrosporium, C. concentricum. Later, Berkeley and Broome (1850) transferred the fungus to the genus Gheosporium, but Thomson (1936), reinvestigating the morphology and development of its asexual stage, concluded that it was not a true Gheosporium and proposed the retention of the fungus in the genus Cylindrosporium.
