Current‐mode wave field programmable analogue arrays

Abstract: SUMMARYA new configurable analogue block (CAB), the key element in the design of field programmable analogue arrays (FPAAs), is introduced in this paper. This CAB is based on wave equivalents of the passive elements and it is easily reconfigurable resulting in very simple and versatile FPAA structures. The proposed topology employs a minimum number of switches in the signal path due to the absence of the interconnection network required in other FPAA structures, and thus an improved performance is achieved in … Show more

“…The first 600 G. SOULIOTIS Figure 9. realization is with the current-mode leapfrog technique [18,19], while the second one with the current-mode wave active method [20][21][22]. These two filters cover two different design approaches using either single current mirrors in the first case or blocks constructed by a combination of current mirrors in the second case.…”

“…The single or double output current mirrors, employed in the leapfrog filter are same as that in Figure 3. The wave method uses the wave port terminator as the active block shown in transistor level in Figure 10 [20,21]. The transistors have the same aspect ratio with those of the current mirror in Figure 3, except for MP 4 , MN 9 , and MN 10 , which have the double ratio.…”

“…For instance, in [15] the CAB used can be tuned using programmable current source. A grounded resistor and/or capacitor can be connected to the summing node at the center of each CAB to realize different analog circuits like amplifiers or integrators.…”
