This paper describes a fourth order switched-current EA modulator for baseband channel applications. It is implemented in a standard 3.3V 0.8 pm CMOS technology. The die area is 4 mm2 and the overall power consumption is less than 75 mW when oversampling 16x an input signal of 600 kHz to achieve 8-bit resolution. The modulator is used as a test vehicle for the integration of the baseband interface for multi-mode RF transceivers in a low cost digital technology using current-mode techniques.
