“…4 Unfortunately, these patients are treated inappropriately for prolonged duration with nonpharmacological management by Evening Primrose Oil 2,5 in a fear of more side effects of pharmacological managements by certain drugs. 6 Inappropriate selection of non-pharmacological treatment as a first line management option, sometimes creates financial burden and unchanged or recurrence of clinical symptoms. 7 Recent population based and breast clinic-based studies suggest that up to 70% of women experience breast pain in their lifetime.…”

“…8,9 Non pharmacological options of medical managements includes some life style modifications (LSM) like-an appropriately fitting and supportive bra, avoidance of caffeine drinks, reduction of dietary fat, increase fiber rich diet, physical exercise to reduce weight and relaxation training are said to be helpful for the treatment of mastalgia 10 and some nutritional supplementations like oil of evening primrose (EPO) will help more than half of these women 5,10,11 . For those with intractable symptoms, Pharmacological options of medical management like-an anti-gonadotropin, (Danazol 6) , or a prolactin inhibitor (Bromocriptine 5) , may be tried. Very rarely, it is necessary to prescribe an anti-estrogen, for example tamoxifen 12,13 , or a luteinizing hormonereleasing hormone (LHRH) agonist to deprive the breast epithelium of estrogenic drive.…”

“…Furthermore, we do not have consistent details on other factors relating to breast cancer risk (such as use of oral contraception, hormone replacement therapy parity and lactation history). We recognise that cyclical and non-cyclical breast pain may have different aetiology and differing management strategies 33 but do not make a distinction between the two in this study. However, by capturing all age groups, we capture both clinical scenarios.…”

“…[135][136][137][138][139][140] Although non-cyclic mastaglia is likely to be more focal than cyclic mastaglia and less commonly related to hormonal fluctuations and usually attributed to anatomic causes. 141 Therefore, in case of cyclical mastaglia, by normalizing the prolactin level the capability of bromocriptine to diminish the breast pain, tenderness, as well as heaviness has been confirmed by many researchers and even the beneficial effect of therapy has been reported to persist for 3 to 6 months even after cessation of treatment. [141][142][143] 3.2 | Bromocriptine in BPH and hyperplasia BPH is a slow, progressive and non-cancerous enlargement of prostate gland in older men, associated with lower urinary tract symptoms; urinary obstruction, incomplete voiding, nocturia and weak urinary stream because of compressed of urethra by enlarged prostate.…”

“…It is poorly localized, mostly felt as heaviness or soreness radiating to the axillae and arms with pathophysiology involving the rapid release of prolactin as a central factor in provoking the cyclical mastalgia 135–140 . Although non‐cyclic mastaglia is likely to be more focal than cyclic mastaglia and less commonly related to hormonal fluctuations and usually attributed to anatomic causes 141 . Therefore, in case of cyclical mastaglia, by normalizing the prolactin level the capability of bromocriptine to diminish the breast pain, tenderness, as well as heaviness has been confirmed by many researchers and even the beneficial effect of therapy has been reported to persist for 3 to 6 months even after cessation of treatment 141–143 …”
