“…Transition‐metal complexes incorporating amino acids or short peptides have been studied extensively with particular focus on the structural diversity of the complexes or selectivity towards metal ions , . Despite the vast amount of research with many transition metals, the crystal structures of oligopeptide complexes are not always easy to obtain, probably because of the high flexibility and different coordination modes of the peptide moieties .…”

“…Compound B was synthesized from Cbz- l -phenylalanine, ethyl chloroformate, triethylamine, and p -diaminobenzene, following the previously reported procedure. 41 Compound B (0.402 g or 1 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (10 mL); once a clear solution was obtained, we added 4-(diethylamino) salicylaldehyde (0.386 g; 2 mmol) previously dissolved in methanol. The reaction mixture was stirred for 4–5 h at 65 °C.…”

“…From the chemistry point of view and as reported in the literature, our synthesized PAs are considered as typical materials for detecting Cu 2þ ions rather than other metal ions due to the presence of variable centers of attack toward Cu 2þ ions. [64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73] The surface selectivity of these new PAs toward Cu 2þ ion comes from its ability to work as an excellent ligand for Cu 2þ ion captured through coordination bond as reported in the literature that nitrogenas well as sulfur-based heteroaromatic compounds are considered as the most important ligands for Cu 2þ ion. Thus, our new PAs are based on thiophene as well as thiazole moieties in the polymer main chain which contains both N and S atoms as well as illustrated previously in Scheme 2.…”
