Crystal structure ofN′-[4-(dimethylamino)benzylidene]furan-2-carbohydrazide monohydrate

Abstract: The condensation of 2-furoic hydrazide and 4-dimethyl aminobenzaldehyde in ethanol yielded a yellow solid formulated as the title compound, C14H15N3O2·H2O. The crystal packing is stabilized by intermolecular O(water)—H...O,N(carbohydrazide) and N—H...O(water) hydrogen bonds, which form a two-dimensional network along the bc plane. Additional C—H...O interactions link the molecules into a three-dimensional network. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the benzene and the furan ring is 34.47 (6)°. The c… Show more

“…This activity enabled considerable knowledge transfer to LCCO and subsequently, more than 70 further sample analyses have been successfully completed. Many novel and interesting structures have been characterized and have resulted in eleven joint publications in a range of journals, between 2018 and 2023 (Gaye et al, 2018(Gaye et al, , 2020Gaye, Fall et al, 2023;Gaye, Sarr et al, 2023;Gaye, Ndoye et al, 2021;Gaye, Kebe et al, 2021;Sokhna et al, 2023); Diallo et al, 2022;Diop et al, 2019;Faye et al, 2020;Sarr et al, 2018;Sylla-Gueye et al, 2020). Recent samples originated from more than a dozen current doctoral students from within the LCCO itself, the wider Department of Chemistry or from two additional joint projects with the University of Bambey, Senegal and Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis, Senegal.…”

“…which indicate that they are single bonds [36] and by the bonds C7-N1 [1.287 (3) Å] and C15-N5 [1.292 (3) Å] which are double bonds [37]. In each molecule of compound (1), intramolecular hydrogen bonds of the type O-H 6).…”

“…Additionally, C6-N2 and C9-N5 have double bond character as shown by the distances values of 1.282(3) and 1.284(3) Å, respectively (Table 2). The values of 1.372(3) and 1.373(3) Å for C8-N3 and C8-N4 are indicative of single bond character [32,33]. Oxygen atom O1 and the azomethine nitrogen atom N5 adopt cis-configuration relative to the C8-N4 bond, while atom O1 and azomethine nitrogen atom N2 adopt trans-configuration relative to C8-N3 bond.…”
