Crystal structure of catena-(hexakis(μ2-aqua)-diaqua-disodium(I) copper(II) bis(μ2-dihydrogen-1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate-O,O′)) dihydrate, Na2Cu(H2O)8(C10H4O8)2 · 2H2O

Abstract: Source of material 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid( 0.508 g, 2m mol; 1,2,4,5-BTC) and NaOH (0.16 g, 4mmol) were dissolved in 15 ml water. Asolution of Cu(NO 3)2 ·3H2O(0.242 g, 1mmol) in 10 ml methanol was added, and the resulting mixture was stirred at 333Kfor 4h ,t hen cooled to room temperature.S ome weeksl ater, blue block-shapedcrystals were grownfrom the filtrate by slow evaporation. The crystal structure consists of the heteronuclear copper and sodium complex containing 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic… Show more

“…Single crystal X-ray analysis shows that the title compound exhibits a one-dimensional chain. This structure is isostructural to other reported compounds that the Cd 2+ ions were substitued by Co 2+ [7], Zn 2+ [8], Mn 2+ , Ni 2+ [9], Cu 2+ [10] and Mg 2+ [11]. There is one quarter of a Cd II atom, one half of a Na I atom, one half H 2 Btec ligand, four halfs coordinating aqua and one half of a lattice water in the asymmetric unit.…”
