Crosslinking and interfacial behavior of carboxylic functionalized carbon nanotube Epon nanocomposites: a molecular dynamic simulation approach

Abstract: We implemented molecular dynamics simulations to study the effect of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) and carboxylic (-COOH) functionalized SWCNT on the crosslinking and interfacial behavior of Epon 862 nanocomposite. Results showed that the introduction of control SWCNT in the Epon system reduced the crosslinking by 8-12% in comparison to control system (without CNT). The molecules of Epon 862 and Epikure-W changed their conformation and aligned themselves in the direction parallel to the surface wrappin… Show more

“…Figure 5a shows a TEM image of CNTs [73]. Currently, graphite is used as a raw material, whereby electrophoretic coating [78], ultrasonic spraying [79], dipping [80], brush coating [81], rod coating [82], and transfer printing [83] methods have been used to produce CNTs, and CNTs containing carbon impurities can be purified by annealing [84], chemical oxidation [85], and polymer introduction [86]. However, the abovementioned synthesis methods have the disadvantages of complicated postprocesses and large film roughness.…”

“…In recent years, the molecular simulation method has been applied to the study of nanocomposites [12][13][14][15][16], and many molecular simulation studies have been conducted on the molecular chain orientation and conformation evolution induced by CNT. Yang et al analyzed the orientation process of multiple short PE chains induced by the CNT [17].…”
