Cross-enterprise value stream assessment

Abstract: Purpose In most cases, the conventional assessment of value streams is based on key performance indicators (KPIs) like the share of added value, the degree of flow or a comprehensive lead time analysis. To evaluate cross-enterprise value streams of manufacturing, business or service processes in detail, a holistic methodology is needed. The paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach In this research paper, the assessment of value streams within complex cross-company networks is described. … Show more

“…To prove that the proposed VSM method [Oberhausen, 2018] is suited as international norm, the suggested procedure needs to demonstrate its general applicability. It was already validated to analyze a versatility of value creation processes, like material-, energy-or data-related value steams [Oberhausen, Weber, Plapper, 2015], , [Oberhausen & Plapper, 2017], [Oberhausen, Minoufekr, Plapper, 2017-1], [Oberhausen, Minoufekr, Plapper, 2017-2], [Oberhausen, Minoufekr, Plapper, 2018].…”

“…Toivonen et al [76] introduced in the value stream analysis innovative principles, such as TRIZ and ideation tools, for improving complex processes with a holistic understanding of systems. In [77], a holistic and multi-level VSM approach is presented for multiple sectors. The authors in [78] proposed a similar VSM analysis but, particularly, for information streams in a demanding production case environment.…”
