Cross disciplinary courses for polytechnics

Abstract: The author considers that discipline orientated courses in physical science are not the most appropriate science based degree level course for polytechnics to offer. A cross disciplinary course is defined as a course of study concerned with the solution of existing cross disciplinary problems, and a mission orientated or problem solving approach to teaching is appropriate.
