This study aimed to identify the mental health quality of life among patients with multiple sclerosis in Jordan. Thus, a descriptive quantitative design was used on a total of (N=100) Multiple Sclerosis patients that were randomly selected by using convenience sampling from the Health Insurance Center in the capital Amman, Jordan. Outcome measurement tools were the demographic data form and the Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life-54 (MSQOL-54) Scale. The demographic data form consisted of questions about: age in years, gender, stage of multiple scleroses, and physical activities. The Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life-54 (MSQOL-54) consisted of two domains the physical health composite and the mental health composite. In this study the mental health composite were used by the participants. The results revealed that the QOL- Mental Health Composite among patients with multiple sclerosis was 33.9 + 33.6. Moreover, there was no significant difference in score for male and females p=.874. In addition, there was no significant difference in QOL mental health scores for the age groups p=.165. Finally, there was a significant difference in scores for participants and non-participants in physical activity p=.000. Accordingly, this research concluded that Multiple sclerosis patients’ have a low quality of life in terms of mental health. In addition, practicing physical activities have a positive effect on the quality of mental health among multiple sclerosis patients.

Wearable exoskeletons have showed improvements in levels of disability and quality of life in people with neurological disorders. However, it is important to understand users’ perspectives. The aim of this study was to explore the patients’ and physiotherapists’ satisfaction from gait training with the EKSO GT® exoskeleton in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). A cross-sectional study with 54 participants was conducted. Clinical data and self-administered scales data were registered from all patients who performed sessions with EKSO GT®. To evaluate patients’ satisfaction the Quebec User Evaluation with Assistive Technology and Client Satisfaction Questionnaire were used. A high level of satisfaction was reported for patients and for physiotherapists. A moderate correlation was found between the number of sessions and the patients’ satisfaction score (rho = 0.532; p < 0.001), and an excellent correlation between the physiotherapists’ time of experience in neurology rehabilitation and the satisfaction with the possibility of combining the device with other gait trainings approaches (rho = 0.723; p = 0.003). This study demonstrates a good degree of satisfaction for people with MS (31.3 ± 5.70 out of 40) and physiotherapists (38.50 ± 3.67 out of 45 points) with the EKSO GT®. Effectiveness, safety and impact on the patients’ gait were the most highly rated characteristics of EKSO GT®. Features such as comfort or weight of the device should be improved from the patients’ perspectives.

Introduction: The previous studies showed that fatigue is a very common symptom in patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) and has the greatest effect on their activities of daily living. Benson relaxation technique (BRT) is one of the most relaxation techniques used to decrease fatigue, improve emotional status and quality of life in patients with several chronic diseases. This study aimed to investigate the effect of BRT on fatigue level of patients diagnosed with MS in Jordan.Methods: This is a quasi-experimental repeated measure study. It involved six neurological clinics in the Ministry of Health and five neurological clinics at private hospitals. In this study, 95 patients returned the completed questionnaire and attended BRT.Results: The mean age of the patients was 33 years. Females accounted for 60% of the patients and almost half of the patients were single. All patients reported having a university degree and three-quarters of the patients were employed. Almost, two-thirds of the patients reported having not more than 1 time of relapse in the past 2 years. The majority of them reported <3 years from the confirmed diagnosis. Findings showed a statistical significant reduction in the overall level of fatigue including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial fatigue of patients with MS after BRT (p < 0.001).Conclusions: Results suggested that this technique is a very effective strategy for reducing fatigue in patients with MS. Therefore, in addition to prescribing medication, it is recommended that this method be applied in the care of patients diagnosed with MS.
