Criticality Analysis and Maintenance of Solar Tower Power Plants by Integrating the Artificial Intelligence Approach

Abstract: Maintenance of solar tower power plants (STPP) is very important to ensure production continuity. However, random and non-optimal maintenance can increase the intervention cost. In this paper, a new procedure, based on the criticality analysis, was proposed to improve the maintenance of the STPP. This procedure is the combination of three methods, which are failure mode effects and criticality analysis (FMECA), Bayesian network and artificial intelligence. The FMECA is used to estimate the criticality index of… Show more

“…Data splitting is based on three procedures, as presented in [52]: (i) normalization, (ii) randomization, and (iii) separation. The normalization process was only applied to the target data, whereas the input data were taken as-is.…”

“…To obtain the optimal ANN architecture, the procedures suggested in [52] were used to find the most appropriate structure of ANN for this study. These procedures consist in varying the number of hidden layers to obtain the highest value of R 2 , given by Equation ( 6).…”

“…For instance, in [35] the authors proposed a model to determine inspection and opportunistic maintenance strategies for floating offshore wind turbines. In [36], a new procedure based on criticality analysis was proposed to improve the maintenance of solar tower power plants. In [31], the authors proposed maintenance plans based on inventory theory, in which replacement is carried out only if there is a minimum of failed units.…”
