Critical success factors of web-based supply-chain management systems: an exploratory study

Abstract: This paper reports the results of a survey on the critical success factors (CSFs) of Web-based supply chain management systems (WSCMS). An empirical study was conducted and an exploratory factor analysis of the survey data revealed five major dimensions of the CSFs for WSCMS implementation, namely (1) communication, (2) top management commitment, (3) data security, (4) training and education, and (5) hardware and software reliability. The findings of the results provide insights for companies using or planning… Show more

“…For example, the study on CSF of CRM technological initiatives in Canada received 132 respondents (Croteau and Li 2003), a study on CSF of web-based supply-chain management systems received 109 respondents (Ngai et al 2004), a study about factors affecting the implementation success of Internet-based information systems in Korean had 120 respondents (Lee and Kim 2007), and the research on CSF of ERP in Indian SME's had 160 respondents (Dan 2009). Therefore, 124 valid questionnaires were considered as sufficient for this study.…”

“…Before conducting EFA, two test were performed to check the possible presence of multicollinearity or correlation among the CSFs: the Kasier-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measuring sampling adequacy, and the Bartlett test of sphericity for testing the presence of correlation (Ngai et al 2004). Bartlett's test requires that the significance value should be less than 0.05 (p‹0.05), moreover, the KMO value should be greater than 0.6 (Tabachnick and Fidell 2001), a value of between 0.8 and 0.9 is better.…”

In the first round, the communalities of all 32 variables were above the 0.5 threshold recommended by Hair et al (1995).…”

“…The complexity of this task as it is multi-objective in nature, and increases with an increase in the number of criteria selection [11]. Previous research agreed that partner selection criteria should relate to operation performance and competitive priorities, but increasingly exacting business environment signifies that the need for a wider range of criteria [12].…”
