“…In the Pacinian corpuscles, the central axon is surrounded by the inner core, formed of two hemi-cylinders of packed flattened processes of lamellar cells. The inner core in turn is surrounded by concentric lamellar layers separated by fluid-filled spaces which can be divided into the outer core (the innermost lamellae) and the capsule (for details see Munger and Ide, 1988;Zelena, 1994). The three main constituents of sensory corpuscles (i.e., the central axon, the lamellar cells and inner core, and the outer core and capsule) were easily identified because they expressed specific IR for different antigens.…”
