Cristae formation is a mechanical buckling event controlled by the inner membrane lipidome

Abstract: The inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM) is the site of bulk ATP generation in cells and has a broadly conserved lipid composition enriched in unsaturated phospholipids and cardiolipin (CL).
