Abstract: The effect of electrons irradiation with an energy of E = 10 MeV and a dose of D = 5·1019 сm–2 on the structure evolution and creep of alloy VT1-0 in initial and nanostructured states obtained by the IPD method has been stud-ied. It is shown that, the deformation nanostructure of VT1-0 is resistant to subsequent deformation under creep conditions at T = 20 °C and is destroyed at T = 350 °C due to the development of recrystallization processes. The review presents the most significant scientific results obtained at the NSC KIPT NAS of Ukraine during low-temperature studies of the physical and mechanical properties of a wide range of metals and alloys over the period from the second half of the 30 s of the 20th century to recent years. During this period, a school in the field of physics of strength and plasticity was formed at the Institute, at the origins of which were I. V. Obreimov, R. I. Garber, V. I. Startsev, V. I. Khotkevich, B. G. Lazarev, and I. A. Gindin. As a result of the studies of these famous scientists, their students and followers, fundamental concepts in the field of low-temperature physics of strength and plasticity of solids and cryogenic materials science have been developed. The relevance of the results obtained is also confirmed by the development of modern cryogenic and aerospace engineering, nuclear and hydrogen energy, electronics, etc.

The effect of ultrasonic influence on the structure evolution and creep of nanostructured titanium alloy of the grade VT1-0 obtained by the method of severe plastic deformation has been studied. It is shown that ultrasonic influence with a frequency of f = 20 kHz and an amplitude of 65 MPa leads to relaxation of internal stresses in the nanostructured VT1-0 alloy due to the formation of an equilibrium structure of boundaries without noticeable grain growth. In this case, the mechanical properties of the alloy change as follows: the tensile strength increases, while maintaining the yield strength and ductility. The reason for the observed effect may be the low stacking fault energy of the VT1-0 alloy, which complicates the course of relaxation processes, as well as the rearrangement of the structure during creep with the formation of new deformation boundaries, which are more resistant to tensile loads.

The effect of irradiation with helium ions at T = 350°C with an energy of 20 keV and a dose of 1.5·1018 Не/cm2 on the structure and properties of VT1-0 titanium alloy in the initial and nanostructural states was studied. It has been shown that irradiation of VT1-0 samples in the initial state leads to a decrease in mechanical properties when tested under creep conditions at T = 350 °C, which may be due to dynamic recovery. A material in a nanostructured state is characterized by an increase in strength and creep rate at a test temperature of T = 350°C, while maintaining a plasticity reserve. The effect is associated with the structure rearrangement, grain growth and the development of strain hardening processes as the effective stress increases.
